CATHERINE WILLIAMS
|
Throughout Catherine Williams practice she has looked at the concept of belonging. As she comes from the country side and has now moved to a city her work focused on maps, position and the difference between rural and city, which then led her practice to look at juxtaposition in different landscapes and object juxtaposition. Catherine uses photography throughout most of her work and tries to envelop humor and irony through typography and photographs that are set up to bring attention to the juxtaposition. Her research has lead her practice to look at trees and the benefits they have to human kind but yet we still cut them down. Her work looks at Identity within herself and her surroundings, also the impact we have on our environment and our awareness of what is happening around us.
