The work, revolving around anxiety, is an exploration stemming from the
nature of fears. Within the practice, we delve not only into our own personal experiences and responses, but those of within the wider picture concerning our society. To intrigue, entice, unsettle, and question through the use of photography and installation, simplicity becomes a key feature. Surrounded by themes of depression, anxiety and death; we may begin to self-doubt our own state of being and the way in which our psyche works. Through the use of text and imagery these themes in a darkened sense through the use of simple yet contradictory materials, such as Spray paint – a solvent material within a confined space that could potentially be harmful to us, used to empathize the state of being so numb and dazed that the damage within our own minds causes a blur between reality and paranoia. Also, through the use photography when discussing the side effects of the advances on technology we use in our society today – How it impacts us both personally but generally speaking as well; How far will we let it go before it comes all too much? |
