KATHRYN TRUSSLER
|
Kathryn Trussler’s work is an exploration of portraiture and continuously seeks the potential of unconventional materials as alternative sculptural aids. In using these materials, the outcome cannot always be anticipated, and the experimentation of techniques and processes is highly necessary. Expanding foam has been a continuous material of interest to Kathryn; this is due to its strange surface texture and the countless ways in which she has discovered it can be manipulated (physically, with a mould, and digitally using a photocopier). Kathryn’s most recent works were created through a number of casting and moulding techniques that have led the sculptures to arrive at the apparent form of foam, but are manifested in copper, bronze, and aluminium.
